Karen L. Oberst - Poetry - Prayer Poem in the Celtic Style

Prayer Poem in the Celtic Style
by Karen L. Oberst

Lord, for this day with its sunshine

    I praise thee.

Lord, for the peas now an inch high
    I praise thee.

Lord, for the row of carrots that poked their heads up
    I praise thee.

Lord, for the daffodils in their bright yellow
    I praise thee.

Lord, for the pastel tulips in their groups
    I praise thee.

Lord, for the grape hyacinths springing up everywhere
    I praise thee.

Lord, even for the peonies coming up
    I praise thee.

Lord, for the hot dry summer coming
    I praise thee.

Lord, for the robins and finches and quail
    I praise thee.

Lord, for the quacking ducks winging over us
    I praise thee.

Lord, for the tree frogs singing in the ditch
    I praise thee.

Lord, for my friends and neighbors living around me
    I praise thee.

Lord, for my incredible Quaker Meeting
    I praise thee.

Lord, for dreams of going to Ireland
    I praise thee.

Lord, for inspiration in writing
    I praise thee.

Lord, for health and strength
    I praise thee.

Lord, for all your goodness to me
    I praise thee.
